What is the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?
The terms “bookkeeper” and “accountant” are often interchanged as some responsibilities overlap. Literally, a bookkeeper maintains the books and retains documentation for transactions. An accountant may also perform these responsibilities and, in addition, focuses on the reporting, analysis and development of processes and procedures. With my background, I have both the ability and experience to offer both services, depending on your individual business needs.
How do services offered by PLD Accounting differ from a tax accounting firm?
As your bookkeeper, I work with you on the client side. I assist you in maintaining your day-to-day accounting activity, so you don't have to. I develop accounting processes and procedures, prepare your payroll, record transactions and balance your checkbook on a routine basis. I prepare documents and schedules needed to provide to your tax accountant for preparation of your tax return during tax season, so you don't have to. I will discuss your accounting records with your tax accountant, so you don't have to. Although I have completed tax returns in the past, my expertise is providing bookkeeping and accounting services. My years of experience and background provides valuable insight; I know both how to manage your small business finances on your behalf, but also am aware of what your tax accountant is looking for and I am able to discuss it with them. Your tax accountant is an expert in tax preparation and can provide you clear guidance in tax law.
